Explanations

Rectified

Rectified tiles

Rectified tiles are also known as dimensionally stable tiles. These are tiles that have been mechanically trimmed to a certain size after they have been fired so that their edges are 90°. Achieved uniform size, consistency and optimum precision give the tile a cleaner finish and fewer deviations between tiles.

Frost resistance

Frost resistance

Frost resistance is determined by the degree of water absorption of the tile (ie it does not provide water to freeze it). For tiles for indoor use is not required frost resistance and moisture absorption is usually more than 10 %. In contrast, frost-resistant glazed tiles have an absorption of up to 3 %. For exterior are suitable sintered tiles with water absorption below 0.5 %.

Porcelain

Porcelain tiles

By pushing into the mold under high pressure remains in the ceramics minimum of air bubbles. It is then fired at high temperatures, making the final product hard, strong and abrasion resistant. At the same time, it is less absorbent. Located universal use in interior and exterior, on walls and floors. Sintered paving is especially suited to high-stressed areas such as tiles or building facades.

PEI III

Use of glazed tiles by abrasion resistance:

Class PEI III. - designed for floors exposed to frequent pollution, eg. In apartments and houses, with the exception of inputs. It is designed for the hall, loggias, balconies, hallways, home kitchens, hotel rooms, sanitation and therapeutic rooms in hospitals.

Lappato

Lapped surface, or Lappato

The lappato technique is used to smooth the surface of the tile with fine irregular grinding. On the tiles, there is an effcient contrast of gloss and matte that highlights the top relief or printed structure. Unlike classical polishing, the surface is polished only at the thickness of several tenths of a millimeter, which makes it possible to use this technique primarily on glazed sintered tiles. With lapping, we encounter relief ceramic tiles where there is a contrast between the trapped top and the unpainted bottom, but also in finely printed micrograph surfaces, which can be reminiscent of satin natural stones after lapping.

Floor tiles

Floor tiles

Tiles suitable for laying on the floor (= like tiles), also can be used for wall cladding.

Glossary

Calibrated

Calibrated tiles are also known as dimensionally stable tiles.

These are tiles that have been mechanically trimmed to a certain size after they have been fired so that their edges form an angle of 90 °. The uniform size, cohesive dimension and optimum accuracy of the tiles give the tiles a cleaner finish and less tile variation.

CALIBRATION ADVANTAGES

  • Greater uniformity and coherence in size, making it easier to decorate or achieve a complex pattern.
  • The joints can be joined together with the jointing material more tightly, so they are less visible.
  • Narrow fissure joints provide less space for tile resizing.
  • As it is easier for a person laying the tile to obtain precise lines due to less movement and movement of these tiles during laying, the overall appearance of the room is much more desirable and attractive.

Slinuta

  • The lining is dyed throughout, not only on the surface.
  • Very high temperature cladding is therefore particularly hard, strong, abrasion resistant.
  • Universal use indoors and outdoors, for walls and floors. Suitable for high stressed areas such as paving and building facades.

Lappato

Otherwise lapped surface

The lappato technique is used to refine the surface of the tiles by gentle irregular polishing. This creates a spectacular contrast of gloss and matt on the tiles , which highlights the top relief or printed texture. Unlike conventional polishing, the surface is only polished by a few tenths of a millimeter, which makes it possible to apply this technique mainly to glazed sintered tiles. Lapping can be found in embossed ceramic tiles, where the contrast between the cut-off upper part and the underside of the lower part, as well as the surfaces with a fine microrelief created by the final print, can resemble, for example, satinised natural stones.

PEI III

Use of glazed tiles according to abrasion resistance:

Level PEI 1 - designed for non-scratch floors and soft footwear such as bathrooms, bedrooms, toilet flats and pool and wall cladding

Level PEI 2 - intended for floors rarely exposed to the aforementioned contamination and ordinary footwear, eg habitable rooms, other than entrance and similar spaces

Level PEI 3 - intended for floors exposed to frequent pollution, eg in dwellings and family houses, with the exception of entrances; designed for hallways, loggias, balconies, corridors, kitchen kitchens, hotel rooms, sanitary and therapeutic rooms in hospitals

Level PEI 4 - designed for more pedestrian frequencies and stronger pollution, such as the interior of administrative buildings and hotel corridors, business rooms and offices

Level PEI 5 - designed for floors with high abrasion and pollution, eg shops, restaurants, hotel staircases
